The best way of finding family on the 1911 Census

Because Ancestry doesn’t have the 1911 Census, there isn’t an obvious way to merge the data into Family Tree Maker.

It is possible however, if you use the web clipping tool.Select Web Search and pick the correct person from your tree (click the folder icon).

Then go to www.1911census.co.uk and log into your account. Go to My Records, select a transcript and click View. Enable the Web Clipping tool and start selecting text.

The Insert Fact menu will appear. You can now link the text with facts (choose Other > Description if your fact isn’t listed). Add all the facts you want, then click Merge. The data will appear in your records. If you’ve paid for the original image, import it into Family Tree Maker and link it to the source citation.
