Discover your family’s story
The first YFT of the year hits shelves today
Happy New Year! The first issue of 2012 is out now, and in it you’ll find a wealth of help to discover how your ancestors lived, from their conditions at home, their local communities, how they travelled, the events that shaped their lives and more.
A great way to find the intimate details of your forebears’ lives is to go beyond the basic details you find in the census and search rich, detailed records that will shed light on your ancestors’ stories. Our great cover feature will show you how to take those census discoveries further.
We’ve also got an exclusive guide to using the incredible new British Newspaper Archive. Old papers are great resources for finding ancestors and looking into events that may have affected their lives. We show you how to search the 3 million pages of newsprint on the website to find your family’s tales.
You can also discover more about your ancestors’ life at home by reading our articles on what it was like to end up in the workhouse, and the highs and lows your kin experienced in their neighbourhood. The issue also features a guide to Ulster research, and experts answer your questions. There are even free issue downloads from our website to accompany the articles and help your research.
Getting your hands on a copy of YFT has never been easier. As well as being available from all good magazine retailers, you can order via myfavouritemagazines, the YFT Facebook page, digitally via Zinio (for Android) and via Apple Newsstand (for iPad/iPhone/iPod Touch).
